Design of a job listings portal and mobile app
FREESPOT – local short-term work
FREESPOT is one of the most comprehensive projects the over-cloud.pl team has delivered. We built a fully functional, modern listings platform for posting and picking up short-term work – mostly local, and often available the same day. The core premise was to combine intuitive UX, contemporary design and a solid technical foundation that lets the product grow and scale.
Stage 1
Preparation
-
Design documentation
-
New branding
-
Presentation material
User needs analysis and UX/UI documentation
We started with a series of workshops and conversations with the client, which let us identify the core needs and frustrations of the end users. We then wrote detailed UX documentation focused on two main paths: the person posting a job and the person looking for work. Each scenario was examined for simplicity, for obstacles that could be removed, and for a logical order of steps. That produced empathy maps, prototypes, lo-fi wireframes and complete user flows in Figma.
UI and branding in line with 2025 design trends
Working from what we had gathered, we created a new visual identity for FREESPOT. The palette, typefaces and visual style drew on current design thinking – calm design, simple shapes, high legibility and contrasting typography. We built a consistent component library and responsive views for both desktop and mobile. Every element of the interface was designed around the end users and what they actually need.
Stage 2
Design
-
Screens and templates: all inclusive
-
Design system with components
-
UX research
-
Extended marketing package
-
Implementation-ready files
-
Advisory pack and roadmap
Design system and UX research – a foundation for scaling
The complete design system, built on a component library in Figma, documents the UI components, colour and type styles, spacing, grids and interaction states (hover, active, disabled). Everything was described following Atomic Design principles, which made handover to the development team far easier and kept desktop views and the mobile apps consistent during the build.
Alongside the design work we ran UX research. The insights let us test the original assumptions and refine key parts of the user journey before anything was built. That process mattered a great deal when features were developed iteratively in later stages.
Landing page and marketing – start.freespot.pl
As part of the marketing work we designed and shipped a dedicated landing page on WordPress, chosen to keep it easy to manage. The page is informative, educational and promotional at once. It was designed for clarity of message and to keep the focus on what users gain from the platform.
We integrated Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Google Search Console, along with UTM tag support. That made it possible to track traffic accurately from outdoor campaigns using QR codes – on flyers, billboards and local advertising.
Knowing a project inside out, we often turn out to be a useful source of ideas about how to run it, how to position it and where to take it next.
Stage 3
Implementation
-
Extended responsiveness
-
SEO and web performance optimisation
-
Modern integrations
Building the portal – web
The freespot.pl portal was built on a modern stack – a Next.js front end, a NestJS back end and a document database hosted on AWS. The whole thing runs in Amazon Web Services with separate staging and production environments, a backup system and full performance monitoring. Sign-in goes through Facebook, Apple ID and Google, and accounts are verified over an SMS API. On top of that, Firebase Push Notifications alert users to new jobs.
Mobile apps – iOS + Android
The final stage was building mobile apps for iOS and Android in React Native with the Expo framework. Both were optimised for speed and ease of use. We paid attention to smooth interaction, push notification support and an interface that works in the conditions people actually use it in – outdoors, on the move. Expo also makes it straightforward to update the apps without republishing them to the stores.
In summary
FREESPOT is an example of a complete full-stack delivery – from user analysis and UX/UI documentation, through branding and interface design, all the way to the technical build and the mobile apps. A contemporary approach to design, visual work in line with 2025 trends, SEO optimisation and a serious AWS cloud setup make FREESPOT a genuinely working, scalable listings platform. The project is a good illustration of strategy, design and technology working together in custom web and mobile development.
